Never Confuse Acquisitions With Business Growth

The links between the two are more tenuous than the breathless headlines about some mega-deal would lead you to believe.

Commenting today on the spate of recently-announced acquisitions, a CNBC talking head called acquisitions a better way to grow "...now that organic growth is suspect."

Organic growth is suspect? Think about it.

To me that's a thinly-disguised code for a leadership team saying "We're out of ideas to grow this company."

Michael Porter On Health Care Reform

Michael Porter, writing in the New England Journal of Medicine, proposes "A Strategy For Health Care Reform - Toward A Value-Based System." His proposals are fundamental, lucid and right-on, meaning they're sure to be opposed by some parties to the debate, the so-called "Yes, but..." crowd.
